In 2010, CSG, the Netherlands Genomics Initiative (NGI), Naturalis and Waag Society conceived the Designers & Artists 4 Genomics Award (DA4GA), which highlights and explores the exciting and novel possibilities between design, artistic practice and life sciences. DA4GA aims to stimulate emerging designers and artists to delve into the world of bio-art, and produce new work in close collaboration with the Netherlands’ most prestigious life sciences research institutes.

To highlight the collaboration between artist and scientist, CSG commissioned a documentary about this part of the project in 2012. The result, titled Talking Plants & Morning Urine, shows how three young designers are inspired by science, how their inspiration turns into questions they want to explore, and how this exploration results in a BioArt object.
